Ikebana Exhibition!

What a fabulous day! Our Ikebana class did an Exhibit in the C building of our college campus. We were split up into teams of two for our group project. My partner was none other than Chieko, our teacher. So basically I got to design it how I wanted and asked her for guidance in any areas I needed it in, we got to use whatever flowers we wanted.
We also had to do our final projects which we had to purchase our own flowers. I stumbled across some varigated lily grass, then some white iris and everything else seemed to fall into place.

So I'm taking an Advanced Ikebana class with Chieko Fukushima, Amazing and talented lady. She was my intro teacher and now this and my Sympathy class. We did this up-right Moribana in class. It's Mums and Curly Willow

Hello Blogging World

Hello! Not sure how to start, but here goes. Today was our Annual Spring Bazaar for the SAIFD chapter at CSN. My first. I just became a member in February. I'm super excited because I just see it as an awesome way to network with Key players in the floral industry here in Nevada. Someone is at the Bellagio, another at Caeser's Palace, MGM Mirage Events, It just seems like a good stepping stone to my future.

We're fund raising for the AIFD Floral Symposium, who will be holding like a huge floral convention with a student competition! So even though I've been working with flowers for less than a year.. IM GONNA TRY! I'm so excited. It's in July, so I have some time to prepare. The bazaar was a success in my eyes, the state of the economy considering. Mayumi, another member of the club, and I made fresh flower arrangement the whole day and had people buying them from us as we were making them. It was pretty awesome. I love seeing people appreciate my "floral art".
