Wynn Wednesdays

Last night at our SAIFD meeting we were finally able to have first dibs on the flowers that the Wynn has kindly donated to the Floral program as opposed to just throwing them away, and trust me since I've started working at the Wynn it is devastating having to throw away all the gorgeous flowers that were in the cooler for more than a week, that are still very beautiful, but have just got to go, it really feels sinful tossing a bucketful of phalenopsis in the trash. So thankfully they've started donating them and I can finally use all these beautiful flowers :) here are a few pics of some of the arrangements I played with that night

This is a prototype I've been working on for an upcoming Event which will be used for the buffet tables

Creativity and Competition

Our Spring 2011 semester is coming to a close... yes! There will be one class I'll miss, my fun floral class, Creativity and Competition. I loved this class because it wasn't about making your arrangement look like what the teacher just did. More of here's a scenario, these are the flowers you have to work with, you've got and hour, now go. Its great practice for Symposium, which is coming up in July :\! One aspect about the class I liked was she made us sketch our design before as part of the creative thinking process. All in all it was a great class that got everyone's creative juices going. Here are some pictures of the arrangements I did. So Good Bye spring 2011, hello Summer Semester.
