in Loving memory

I had my first experience with sympathy, or funeral flowers not too long ago. It was my honor to create 4 pieces in memory of a good friend of mine's Mother.

I was eager to help her just so I could help relieve any bit of stress I could, and also because I've had a few loved ones in Hawaii pass away, that I couldn't do anything for because I'm all the way over here on the Mainland, so I felt like in a small way I was doing it for them too.

I loved making these pieces <3 RIParadise

Our Big Event

We were so lucky to have an awesome client that wanted color, fun, and fabulosity, and left the designs, colors and all around look up to us. My part in the event were the Buffet Table pieces. There were 7 to do and they all needed to be cohesive but different.

The Boss laday told me here's our http://www.blogger.com/img/blank.gifinspiration now make it your own. Here's the picture she gave me

Along with the picture she gave me the structures I would be using and some embroidery hoops, and a lot of wire. This is what I came up with, I spray painted embroidery hoops copper and wired them with bullion and regular decorative wire. then weaved the calla lilies in.

Money ;) Yesterday we worked on all 7 pieces and finished them for todays luncheon. Our team did an awesome job and our clients loved us! Happy May, enjoy the photos.

Early morning in the studio with all the beautiful colorful flowers

Creativity and Competition FINAL!

So our final for class is a surprise box. surprise box you ask? well everyone here it is, everyone is given the same scenario and the same materials and vases to have to create an arrangement within an hour, being timed. Then after the final seconds come to an end 2 judges are there to critique every inch of your arrangement, the depth, color balance, line, mechanics, everything.

Tonight we had 18 students and our scenario was to create a photo op piece for E network which has a size restriction of 12"x12"x36". So if your width is 13" you're disqualified/0 for your grade :( serious stuff. We were given all of our materials and then at 6:15 we were to start designing!

fastforward to 7:15 everyones done and now we wait, the dreaded waiting. It took the judges 1:30 mins to tally the results. which by the way are out of 120, so if you get a 5, being exceeds excellence or something like that, in each category you'll get 120. Chieko walks in and announces the 3 best scores.

She announces 1st place, ME! with a total of 113 points :) nice! then Lyndsay in 2nd and a tie for 3rd with Elizabeth and Darlene. Soo happy because Chieko told us whoever won would recieve a year subscription to the floral magazine of your choice! In the bag! lol it was a lot of fun I hope I continue this for symposium :)

Quarter turn :] lol

Florists Review or Flowers&... what to do what to do...

A look for less

PROM! On Molokai we did all our own decorations for everything, Farmers das why :) Well this high school here in Vegas contacted us saying they needed table decor for they're prom. wow alright. The girl says we have 12 table and our colors are black and gold with a masquerade theme. alright! then she says her budget, DUN DUN DUN... $150.00. wow.... alright.... sure why not.

You get 14 vases you need to get rid of anyway + some mardis gras beads + some glittery curly sticks + plastic dollar store masks + Dendrobium Orchids =

The bottom of the vases are mardis gras beads

We wired the beads to hang out of the tops of the vases for a more "elegant" look and spray painted the white masks with a gold glitter

= Happy seniors :) for you class of 2011 Congrats!
